Kaitlyn's 3rd Birthday

Kaitlyn turned 3 on July 23rd. Her birthday fell on a Monday and we had planned on taking a picnic to the pool and then coming back for cupcakes. Unfortunately a HUGE storm came through and ruined that plan. We had our picnic on the floor in our living room instead and the girls thought it was fun. We had peanut butter sandwiches, yogurt, bananas, and chips--Kaitlyn's favorite foods (and pretty much all she will eat). It was nice to all eat the same meal for once! After dinner we opened presents and had a couple of friends over for cupcakes. It was simple and perfect.

Kaitlyn had a rock star party this year. She LOVES guitars and music and she's our little rock star so it worked out perfectly.

I wanted Kaitlyn to have a big birthday party. She would have been totally happy with what we did on her actual day, but I decided to have a big party with our friends that have helped us so much these past three years during our journey with Kaitlyn. I guess I didn't realize just how many wonderful people we have in our lives because we ended up with over 40 people in our house! It was a tight squeeze and I think next year we'll head to a park :)

Thank you to all who came and helped out! It's so amazing to see how many people have been touched by our little bug.

I was so busy during the party I didn't take many pictures. I did take this picture of Kinsey's room after the party was over. The kids obviously had lots of fun in here.

I guess Kaitlyn's room isn't nearly as interesting!

Kinsey noticed some guys moving furniture outside of our apartment. Some had taken their shirts off and she asked me why. I told her that they were probably hot and explained that sometimes guys take their shirts off outside but that girls shouldn't and figured that would be the end of the conversation. But a little while later she saw the guys outside again and said, "Them boys took off their shirts. They're HOT!"

I was telling Jason how well Kinsey was doing learning her colors. I mentioned that she knows the color white. Jason said, "She knows white?" Kinsey, very confidently, broke into the conversation and said "I know white." We just looked at each other. It was her first "real" sentence that she thought up all on her own. She's growing up too fast.

Kinsey and I were taking a walk around the neighborhood when she spotted a dog, or a "woof woof" as she calls it. We went over to say hi and the dog touched her hand with his nose. Kinsey looked at her hand then said "eww" and wiped her hand on her shorts.
