4 Year-old Logic

Most of the time Kinsey is quite "civilized" but every once in a while she does something really...impulsive. Like tonight. We had salad for dinner and Jason and I looked over and noticed that Kins was using a piece of lettuce to smear salad dressing on her face. It was so uncharacteristic of her that we just sort of looked at her. I finally asked her what she was doing and she said, "I'm pretending it is glue." Jason asked her why she would put glue on her face and she looked at him like he was crazy and said, "This is salad dressing, Dad."

Kinsey noticed some guys moving furniture outside of our apartment. Some had taken their shirts off and she asked me why. I told her that they were probably hot and explained that sometimes guys take their shirts off outside but that girls shouldn't and figured that would be the end of the conversation. But a little while later she saw the guys outside again and said, "Them boys took off their shirts. They're HOT!"

I was telling Jason how well Kinsey was doing learning her colors. I mentioned that she knows the color white. Jason said, "She knows white?" Kinsey, very confidently, broke into the conversation and said "I know white." We just looked at each other. It was her first "real" sentence that she thought up all on her own. She's growing up too fast.
