Today Kinsey and I cut out snowflakes. She had a lot of fun but made a huge mess. I told her that she needed to pick up all the little pieces of paper under the table. She was doing this, but she stood up too quickly one time and hit her head on the table. She cried and cried, more than she needed to, and I finally told her that she needed to go to her room if she needed to cry some more. I was in the living room and I heard her start screaming, "I can't see! I can't see!" Well, I sort of (calmly) freaked out. As you might imagine, we are a little paranoid around here about little girls losing their ability to hear/see/ect. I went into her room and she quickly turned and looked right at me. Phew. She can still see. I asked her what was going on and she said, "I can't see because you didn't turn my light on." Seriously?
How do I balance the need to worry when necessary with the need to not freak out? And how on earth and I going to last until Kinsey turns 4?
