The Zoo

During fall break, I decided to take the girls too the zoo. Jason had to work, so we went by ourselves. I'd never gone without Jason before, but it went very smoothly and the girls had a lot of fun.

The girls usually want to spend all of our time at the playground. There is a giant leaf slide that goes pretty fast, obviously (Kaitlyn was fine).

They also love to ride the tram between the different parts of the zoo. I really should just stay in Raleigh and take the girls to Pullen Park.

There are two baby gorillas at the zoo. They were so fun to watch. I love how the moms (or maybe dads? I couldn't tell) carried the babies around. The girls thought the upside down baby was SO FUNNY.

Summer crocs make me happy

After we left the zoo, we were lucky enough to meet up with my cousin and her husband in a small town in North Carolina. They were headed back to New Mexico and it somehow worked out perfectly for us to be in the same place at the same time. We went to Sonic for ice cream (one of the few options in Siler City, NC) and then the girls got to explore the big semi-truck they were traveling in. It was a short but fun visit.

Kinsey noticed some guys moving furniture outside of our apartment. Some had taken their shirts off and she asked me why. I told her that they were probably hot and explained that sometimes guys take their shirts off outside but that girls shouldn't and figured that would be the end of the conversation. But a little while later she saw the guys outside again and said, "Them boys took off their shirts. They're HOT!"

I was telling Jason how well Kinsey was doing learning her colors. I mentioned that she knows the color white. Jason said, "She knows white?" Kinsey, very confidently, broke into the conversation and said "I know white." We just looked at each other. It was her first "real" sentence that she thought up all on her own. She's growing up too fast.
