Now we get to deal with insurance companies and find somewhere to get the car fixed. Small annoyance considering that things could have been much worse. We are so, so grateful for our big tough Subaru!

Last Saturday
Last Saturday, a friend offered to watch our girls for the night. Jason and I decided to go to an early-ish movie and then to dinner. We were driving home, and getting ready to merge onto the freeway. There was a car completely stopped in the merge lane (we aren't sure if the whole lane was backed up or if that driving just didn't know how to merge). Jason braked quickly, but we were able to stop in plenty of time. The car behind us was able to stop too. However, the car behind them didn't stop and slammed into them, and they ran into us. It was one of those moments where you almost know what is going to happen, but there is nothing you can do to stop it. NOT very fun. We got hit pretty hard, but we are both fine. The first word out of Jason's mouth was, "Great." I said, "Seriously? I do NOT need this right now." We got out to see if everyone was ok. Thankfully, all 5 people involved were fine, but the cars did not look great. The car that caused the wreck was completely smashed in the front, with fluid leaking all over the road. The car in the middle was pretty smashed on both ends. Our car got hit on one side, and we were afraid that it was going to be pretty damaged. I called 911, told them where we were, and waited. And waited and waited and waiting. Durham County is NOT doing much to impress me (we were at Southpoint Mall). The police finally showed up about 30 after the accident happened. By that time, it was pretty dark, we were standing on the side of the freeway, and our cars were in the middle of the merge lane. The other two cars had to be towed away, but our beast of a car ended up with only a small dent and some scratches. We were able to drive home. We actually ended up giving the girl that caused the wreck a ride home. And funny enough, she and I exchanged numbers. She has 2 little girls and I really quite liked her, despite the fact that she rammed into us.
Now we get to deal with insurance companies and find somewhere to get the car fixed. Small annoyance considering that things could have been much worse. We are so, so grateful for our big tough Subaru!
