Kinsey is 5!

I can't believe my girl is 5! It sounds so old and grown-up. And she is definitely growing up! Check out what she is up to...

  • Loves preschool! She enjoys her teacher and loves all the other kids in her class.
  • She is a planner! She has been planning her birthday part since March (I am NOT exaggerating at all). And she has just started planning her birthday for next year....as well as her Halloween costume for next year (this years is already all picked out and purchased).
  • She is a smarty pants! In addition to knowing all her letters (upper and lowercase) and colors and numbers, she knows all the days of the week, all the months, can do simple addition and subtraction, and is starting to read (without me really teaching her how). She still has a whole other year to she starts kindergarten (she missed the deadline to start this year by 3 days). She will be VERY ready to start next year. Personally, am happy to have her home for another year.
  • Still loves gymnastics. She is getting better! She has gotten much stronger and more coordinated since last year. Gross motor has never really been a strong point for Kinsey. She didn't walk until she was 17 months old and was always a bit behind (but still within a normal range). Now she is all caught up! I can't wait to get Kaitlyn to this point!
  • Incredibly loving. And thoughtful. I am amazed by her kindness and gentleness with Kaitlyn (most of the time). She is also a very good friend and gets along very well with other kids.
  • She is also quite sensitive. I have never, ever seen her hurt another child on purpose. Consequently, she gets her feelings very hurt if someone hurts her. I think it just doesn't make sense to her. I love her kindness, but we do need to toughen her up a bit!
  • Great eater! For the most part. She will eat pretty much any fruit or vegetable, loves steak and hamburgers, and CHEESE! She also loves all the typical "kid" food.
  • Has a great vocabulary. She cracks us up. This morning she told me that she had a dream about a "large beast."
  • She is very affectionate and loves to give hugs (to people she knows...unlike her little sister who often enjoys strangers more us).
  • Very social! She's never happier than when she is with her friends.
  • Loves to sing and "play" the piano (keyboard).
  • Loves to "help" during Kaitlyn's therapies. Sometimes too much...
  • Doesn't miss anything. Seriously. She helps fill the doctors and therapists in anytime Kaitlyn has an appointment (and is always spot on) and seems to always know what Jason and I are talking about--even if we are spelling out words and talking in "code." She has an amazing memory.
  • She is my little buddy! She loves to help us with projects and go shopping with us. Jason often takes her with him when he goes to buy car parts or things for the house and she loves it!

She is the best big sister we could ever have asked for! I don't know how I would have made it through Kaitlyn's first year with any other kid. She is such a fun little person and I don't know what I would do without her!
