It ended up being an interesting day. Kaitlyn was so excited to see all the animals, but it was so crowded this year. It must have been prime preschool field trip day and there were little kids everywhere. Poor Kaitlyn has such a hard time in noisy places. It is very confusing for her to hear all the sounds coming into one ear, in digital sound because of her hearing aid, and she can't focus or localize on anything (worrying about how she is going to cope in a noisy kindergarten class already keeps me up at night...). It's confusing and scary and gives her a headache (this is the feedback I get from her Sunbeam teacher who also happens to be deaf in one ear, which is such a blessing because she can tell when Kaitlyn is having a hard time in Sharing Time). She completely fell apart, along with the rest of the littles in our group, and we headed for the ice cream as quickly as we could. Kinsey had a great time and enjoyed seeing all of the animals. Kaitlyn was fine once we got outside and got her some ice cream :)
They both loved the little chicks!
Kaitlyn loved this cow too, until he walked away and then she would fall apart again. She hugged him at least 10 different times.
NC State is smart and gave the kids a little something with their logo all over it. They all wanted the band-aid holder. Not because it says NC State, but because it came with band-aids.
We went to a park afterwards to eat lunch and play and the girls absolutely loved this tire swing. I still have happy memories of swinging on a tire swing at Brookside Park in Farmington, NM and I was happy to let my girls experience the simple excitement of swinging with their friends. I hope they remember it for a long time too!
I love their happy faces. Such a perfect picture of their innocent happiness!
