Rock Star

We are in the process of transitioning Kaitlyn OUT of the early intervention/birth to three program and INTO the public school system. Early intervention has handled all of her therapies since she was born, but she loses all services from them the day she turns 3. It has been such a process! We started in December and we will finally find out next Monday what she is eligible for. We've had a quite a few evaluations, meetings, etc. and I am ready to just get some answers!

Kaitlyn's right side has been more effected by CMV than her left. It was very noticeable when she was younger. Today she is left handed, and her right ankle is weaker than her left, but other than that you have to look hard to see the right sided weakness. I brought some older pictures of Kaitlyn along to one of our appointments so that this new team working with Kaitlyn could get a better idea of her background. The OT was AMAZED with the progress Kaitlyn has made in just a few short years. She said she has never seen a child whose right side was so tight at 1 year have such normal fine motor skills and functions at 2 1/2. She said based on the pictures, she would fully have expected Kaitlyn to be diagnosed with cerebral palsy and still struggling greatly with that right side.

She just confirmed what I already knew. 1, that Kaitlyn is a total Rock Star, and 2, that we have been greatly blessed!
