Maple View Farm Day

We were able to spend the day at Maple View Farms with some friends from our old ward and had a great time. We've been before, for the amazing ice cream, but had never seen the actual farm part of it. It was very cool and Kinsey loved meeting up with her old friends.

Maple View Farms is mostly a dairy farm, though they grow a few crops and have other animals. They produce nice, happy milk from happy cows and sell it around the community in certain grocery stores. After seeing the farm, I am convinced to one day make the milk fit into our budget (it's about twice the price of regular milk). They are partnered with Duke, and consequently have lots of Duke money, and they have an awesome program set up for kids. Kinsey loved the classes where she learned about fall and dairy farms, and she also got to meet all the animals, milk a cow (!), and go on a hayride. The day was topped off with fresh ice cream :)

Kinsey pushed her way to the front so that she could be the "line leaber"

Farmer Bob, owner of Maple View Farms. He's there everyday, overseeing everything and helping the kids milk cows. He is 87.

The Hayride

Happy, happy Kinsey. Too bad we don't live on a farm. She would LOVE it.

Look closely, you can see a brand new, hour old calf

New little cows

Totally fun day. Yay for cows!
