Day #1
We flew out today. Jason and I flew separately. I flew stand-by (with a toddler-just a little crazy) and didn't have to leave until noon, but Jason's flight left at 6 am. I (with Kinsey in tow) dropped him off at the airport at 5 am and then came home and went back to bed for a few hours. Kinsey and I left for Atlanta at noon. We got on the first flight with no problems (remember we were flying stand-by) and got into Atlanta where we had a four hour layover. What does one do in an airport with a toddler for 4 hours? A toddler who wont take a nap if they are not in a bed? You find a really nice looking lady and let her entertain your child for 2.5 hours. At least that is what I did. Not really on purpose but it worked out nicely:). We got on our next flight to Albuquerque (barely) and go in at about 8:30 North Carolina time. We stayed with Jason's sister and her family that night in Albuquerque. It was a long but eventful day!

When these distractions (as well as many others) failed I would threaten time-out. I don't know where I would have put her for time-out on an airplane, but the threat alone generally did the job. Somehow we made it through 8+ hours of traveling!
Kinsey loved the airplanes (or airplane cars as she calls them). She would laugh when we took off or landed and she loved the turbulence. She had fun watching the airplanes outside as we waited (and waited and waited) for our next flight.

Kim your are brave! One, for flying by yourself with a toddler, and two flying on stand by. You must not have any problems with traveling. Me...I don't think I could have done it. I'm kind of a homebody at that...I like being at the destination, but don't like getting there, so the uncertainty that you had would have made me have anxiety! I'm glad it turned out o.k. for ya though.
