Topsail Beach

We ran away to the beach for one day in May. We have day trips pretty much figured out. We prepare everything the night before, including a lunch, so that we can leave early the next day and spend hours and hours on the beach. We bring a change of clothes and hope to find parking near a shower and then eat dinner out before we head home. We have some friends who are always up for a beach trip and things just go so smoothly with them. We have many, many memories of beach trips together and really enjoyed this day in May!

The kids. No clue why Kaitlyn has a grumpy face but she kind of cracks me up with her frown and little belly. The hat just completes the look. The rest of the kids look the way you should when you get to spend the whole date at the beach!

I love watching my kids run into the waves!

There were so many dead jellyfish floating around in the ocean that day!

After dinner we took one last walk down the beach to a pier. We got some ice cream and paid a dollar each to walk to the length of the pier while the sun set. It was perfect!

Kinsey noticed some guys moving furniture outside of our apartment. Some had taken their shirts off and she asked me why. I told her that they were probably hot and explained that sometimes guys take their shirts off outside but that girls shouldn't and figured that would be the end of the conversation. But a little while later she saw the guys outside again and said, "Them boys took off their shirts. They're HOT!"

Kinsey and I took a walk to take some things to the recycling bins. She usually brings her stroller and a doll or two but didn't ask to this time. When we were halfway to the recycling bins, she stopped in her tracks and said, "Oh my! We forgot mine stroller!"

I was telling Jason how well Kinsey was doing learning her colors. I mentioned that she knows the color white. Jason said, "She knows white?" Kinsey, very confidently, broke into the conversation and said "I know white." We just looked at each other. It was her first "real" sentence that she thought up all on her own. She's growing up too fast.

Kinsey and I were taking a walk around the neighborhood when she spotted a dog, or a "woof woof" as she calls it. We went over to say hi and the dog touched her hand with his nose. Kinsey looked at her hand then said "eww" and wiped her hand on her shorts.
