January

Oh, January.  January was a crazy month.  We closed on the house in December but had our apartment until mid-January.  This was nice because we were able to get lot of work done on the house while not actually living there and dealing with boxes and furniture.  The house also gave my family a place to stay while they were here for Christmas.  We were set to move out towards the beginning of January.  We had been putting all our efforts towards working on the house and still needed to do a lot of packing at the apartment.  The Monday before our move (Saturday) I started to feel sick.  I thought it was a simple cold and hoped it wouldn't slow me down too much, as I still had a lot of packing to do.  By Tuesday night I thought I was going to die.  Or maybe I just wished I would.  Wednesday I dragged myself to the doctor (the first time since I was a teenager) because I knew I needed to be well for the move on Saturday.  Well, turns out I had the FLU.  You don't feel better by Saturday when you have the flu.  By the next day Kaitlyn was sick too.  We both went of tamiflu but Jason still had to take off work because I was useless.  This halted our progress getting the house ready as well as packing and we had no choice but to reschedule the move for the next week.  I did finally get better and we were able to get everything moved in, but it was such an awful week.  So glad that is done!

Some fun times in January...

Kaitlyn's half birthday.  She requested chocolate cupcakes.  We took some into preschool as well as her birthday falls in July so she is not there to celebrate it.  Kaitlyn is now 4 1/2.  Don't try to tell her she is 4.  She will quickly correct you.  Loudly.

We had a VERY light dusting of snow and earned ourselves a 2 hour delay.  Gotta love the south!

Kaitlyn took matters into her own hands at audiology. This was actually a useless appointment because she had fluid and double ear infections (which I didn't even know about) so they couldn't test her hearing.  But of course I still had to pay a co-pay!  Plus another $112 because an ENT fellow spent 5 minutes pulling out one of her tubes that was no longer helping.  Sigh.
We go back to both tomorrow.  Hopefully we have better luck.

Kaitlyn lost her first tooth--at 4 1/2!  She is so excited.  This is her "I lost my tooth face!"  I do have a better picture that actually shows the tooth missing.  It will be in the February post.

We got more snow, this time a good amount!  We manged to buy one of the last sleds in town and Kaitlyn was so excited she convinced me to let her sleep in it.  You can't really tell because of all the blankets but she happily slept all night long!

The girls with the funny moose socks my mom got for them in Maine.  They were perfect for the snow!  Kaitlyn wore hers for like 3 days straight, she liked them so much.

We live in North Carolina and consequently we don't have a snow shovel.  Jason used our leaf blower (because that is a necessity here) to blow off the sidewalks and the cars.
