Thank you to all of you who called, emailed or texted after hearing about the tornadoes that hit North Carolina on Saturday. We're fine, our house is fine, and everyone we personally know is fine. We were shopping at an outlet mall on Saturday when the weather got crazy. We had checked the weather before we left because we knew storms were coming our way, but things looked fine. We ended up having to hide out in a fitting room while hail, rain, and wind pounded everything outside. We were fine, though a tornado did hit about a block away. We were fortunate that we were in a children's store when things got bad. They had a couple of nice big fitting rooms and toys. The girls had a great time playing with another little girl that was with us. Things calmed down after about 45 minutes and we were able to finish shopping.
We're so grateful that we are ok, as so many people weren't. The tornadoes were way worse than was originally predicted (there were more than 60 of them), many people lost their homes and 22 people in North Carolina died, some just miles away from our house. Our biggest problems are a bit of siding that flew off our house and a door of some sort that is stuck in a tree in front of our house.
Yes, a door. In our tree.
I took some pictures, though they don't really show it very well. It is really high and well protected. We're not quite sure how we're going to get it down...
