Last Wednesday, Kaitlyn woke up grumpy and with a low fever. I gave her some Motrin and put her down for her morning nap, hoping that would fix whatever was going on. An hour into her nap I heard her screaming. Completely, hysterical, out of control screaming. I went in and found her burning up and shaking. Her whole body was trembling. It freaked me out (obviously) and I called our pediatricians office and left what I'm sure was a very panicked message. By the time they called back she had stopped shaking but her temp was 103. They told me to give her more medicine and call back in a few hours to let them know how she was. She finally took another nap and woke up fine, no fever and not grumpy. I figured she was ok.
BUT her fever came back a few hours later and by dinner time she was shaking again. We had a long, sleepless night and I took her into the pediatricians the next day. We were told that was most likely Roseola, a common kiddo virus that most kids get it before they are two. It consists mostly of a few days of a high fever, followed sometimes by a rash once the fever breaks.
After a week of dealing with the fever and many sleepless nights, we happily welcomed in the rash. She is pretty much back to normal and I'm thrilled to have my happy, hungry, sleeping baby back!

oh, I am so glad that she is doing well now.
Everett had Roseola just last week. It started on our drive up to Indy, so we just thought he didn't like the car. Turns out he had a high fever too, 103.6 but no shakes. That sounds scary. He was a little subdued, woke up every 4 hours for more tylenol, and just seemed out of it during the day. Good thing is that now they're immune!
Yeah I just looked at the calendar and they had it at exactly the same time. Crazy.
