First Birthday Party, again

We were thrilled to be able to celebrate Kaitlyn's birthday with our family in New Mexico. Being so far away, we rarely get to be with them on birthdays. We also wanted to celebrate Kaitlyn's birthday with our friends. We've had so much help, love, and support since Kaitlyn was born from our friends here and we wanted them to be a part of Kaitlyn's special day as well.

So, that left us with no choice but to have two parties. I was sick of ladybugs (and cupcakes) by this point so we kept things simple and just did brownies and ice cream. We had tons of fun and we loved being able to spend time with some of our favorite people.

Thanks to the help of our family, we were able to get Kaitlyn the full Baby Signing Time set, it has movies, CD's and flashcards. It just came in the mail today and I am so excited. Kinsey picked out a toy phone and bandaids (?) for her gift to Kaitlyn. We also had some thoughtful friends make a donation to Stop CMV in Kaitlyn's name. She (and we) had a great birthday. Thanks everyone!

Kinsey noticed some guys moving furniture outside of our apartment. Some had taken their shirts off and she asked me why. I told her that they were probably hot and explained that sometimes guys take their shirts off outside but that girls shouldn't and figured that would be the end of the conversation. But a little while later she saw the guys outside again and said, "Them boys took off their shirts. They're HOT!"

I was telling Jason how well Kinsey was doing learning her colors. I mentioned that she knows the color white. Jason said, "She knows white?" Kinsey, very confidently, broke into the conversation and said "I know white." We just looked at each other. It was her first "real" sentence that she thought up all on her own. She's growing up too fast.

Kinsey and I were taking a walk around the neighborhood when she spotted a dog, or a "woof woof" as she calls it. We went over to say hi and the dog touched her hand with his nose. Kinsey looked at her hand then said "eww" and wiped her hand on her shorts.
