Update

There are a few pictures of Kaitlyn on my mom's blog. Kaitlyn is doing pretty well, she is eating on her own (though she does still have an IV) and is on room air (no oxygen) and no longer needs heat lamps to keep her temperature stable. They started her on a medication that will help fight some of the side effects of the virus. We still do not know how long she will have to stay in the hospital, it will be at least a couple of weeks. When I get home I will write a more detailed post about the end of my pregnancy and the delivery. We will also be setting up a website or blog dedicated to updates on Kaitlyn.

As for the rest of the family...

I (Kim) am doing pretty good. Kaitlyn was born via c-section and the recovery hasn't been as bad as I heard it would be. I should go home from the hospital tomorrow afternoon. It is hard to be seperated from my girls but at least I am getting a lot of rest.

Jason has been such a trooper through this whole ordeal. He is taking such good care of me. He does not do well with blood or needles but he made it through the surgery suprizing well. He also has made sure that Kisney is cared for and happy and last night he stayed up way too late holding Kaitlyn in the NICU because he didn't want her to be alone. I also failed to mention that Jason got a job a few weeks back. He is supposed to start tomorrow of all days. He will probably go in later in the week. He got a job in Raleigh working as a bi-lingual therapist. More about that later...

Kinsey is finally a big sister! She is excited about this even though she has not been able to see her little sister. She wont be able to see her until she is out of the NICU. Kinsey's life has been a little crazy these past few days as she has been transfered from place to place but she has done so well. She is such a good two year old and will be such a sweet and loving big sister.

My mom flew in on Friday night. She has Kinsey which makes life much easier for us. We are so grateful for her help. She bought a one-way ticket so she can stay as long as needed. We might never let her go home. :) Thank you Dad for lending us your wife!

So, this is our new life. We never would have choosen this trial but already I can see the blessings that are coming out of it. Our ward has been great and so many people have already offered to help. A social worker came to talk to me the other day and asked what kind of support system we had in place. I was so grateful that I was able to tell her that we had wonderful friends and a wonderful church. We really are so blessed.

The hospital has been great. We have had so many kind and talented doctors/nurses/midwives/ect. What a blessing to live just miles away from one of the top hospitals in the country! I am grateful that all of Kaitlyn's needs can be met right here. She is in really good hands.

I meant for this to be short post but I guess I have a lot of say. Thank you again to all who have helped.

Kim and Jason! Congrats! We are so happy for you guys but so sorry to hear that Kaitlyn is sick! Having a baby in the NICU is the absolute most draining and emotional roller coaster! It sounds similar to Myas situation.. she was born via c-section too. My recovery wasn't bad at all and I'm glad to hear yours isn't too bad either Kim! We'll keep you in our prayers!

Congrats on getting a new job too! That's wonderful!

How exciting to have a new little addition to the family. I hope everything gets better and you can take your Kaitlyn home soon. I am glad to hear your c-section was not to bad. We are having the twins c-section and I have been a little worried about it. Congratulations on the job Jason!

Congrats on the new baby girl! I hope things are going better for you and your family. I will say a little prayer for you guys!!! Hang in there!
I am scheduled next week for my second c-section with my little girl and i hope all goes well. It's always hard to figure out who can take good care of your other child while you are dealing with recovery from a c-section, a new baby, and knowing your other child is wondering, "WHerre is Mommy?"
