The Big Move

Finally a few pictures from our trip across the country. For those who don't know, it went like this. We left Utah on Tuesday, May 2. We stayed the first night in Cheyenne, WY. We got up Wednesday and drove across Nebraska, staying the night right next to the Nebraska/Iowa border. On Thursday, we drove into Iowa then into Missouri (we saw Kansas City and St. Louis) and ended up staying the night in Indiana (after nearly running out of gas in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night! The next day (Friday) we drove through Kentucky (it was beautiful!) and then W. Virginia, Virginia and finally North Carolina! We got here after 4 days of driving. We had a giant Penske truck and we pulled our Subaru behind it. Kinsey was with my parents the whole time. They flew her out to us a few days after we got here. It was nice to explore the country together and to have some time to ourselves. It was a long, sometimes stressful trip but still very fun! We live in such a beautiful (and big!) country and I loved seeing how it changed as we got further and further east. My favorite places were the Arch in St. Louis and the horse farms in Kentucky (which I didn't get a picture of!). Jason liked the rivers and the bridges :)

Here are some pictures of every state we went though (I think) except Utah and North Carolina.

Wyoming
Not our favorite state we went through-sorry Dan and Casey! There's just not much to see on that looong road across the state.

Nebraska
At a pony express station in Gothenburg-I liked this little town a lot

Iowa
We were in and out of this state in about 15 miles. I've been here before with my friend Jordan. I miss you Jordan!

Missouri
The arch was cool-we didn't get to go to the top because there was no place to park our giant truck.

Indiana
Pretty much just saw roads in Indiana.

Kentucky
One of our happy gas fill-ups. It wasn't even full. The machine just stops at $100 and then you have to do another transaction. We were excited to get between 9-11 miles/gallon.

West Virginia
A very green state. We had to pay $14 to go on a toll road here. It saved a lot of time though.

Virginia
Pretty and a little more open then W. Virginia

That was our trip! We decided we need to stay on the east coast for a least a few years to justify such a huge move. As fun as it sometimes was, I really don't want to do the trip again (just in the opposite direction) in a year.

I lived a lot of my younger years on the east coast. Virginia, Massachussetts, Georgia. I love the east coast. We made a lot of trips accross the states growing up to come back to Utah and Idaho to visit family. I love that drive, well, I did when I was a kid. I am like you, I love to see the changes as you move through each state. Glad you made it ok.

I'm glad you guys got to drive together. Last I heard, Kim was going to drive the Subaru. That probably made the trip a little more bearable. We really want to join you out there!

Sounds like a fun road trip, minus the cost of gas of course. I've always wanted to do a cross country trip. (By the way big daddy is your cousin James, your mom gave me the link to your blog.)
