Update on Kaity Bug

It's been awhile, here's what she's up to...

Walking! And walking really well! She is doing super and insists on walking anytime she can. She walks herself out to the car when we go somewhere, and then back into the house when we get home. It makes my life easier! She's still quite clumsy, but getting better. We are so proud of her!

Sleeping better. Yay! She's never been a great sleeper, and we discussed medication with our pediatrician, but for now we are going to give her more opportunities to develop good sleeping habits without the use of medicine.

Eating--not the best. We are in the process of getting her evaluated for OT (occupational therapy) to help with her aversions to eating as well as some other sensory issues that have popped up. I'm so sick of fighting with her to eat, I wish we could get this figured out! She'll eat crackers, pretzels, goldfish (basically anything crunchy), bread when she's in the mood, cheese occasionally, yogurt, baby food, and almost anything sweet. NO meat, beans, fresh fruits or veggies. She does occasionally try new things, but usually ends up gagging and spitting out whatever it was she tried. She also has major issues with sand and grass, which is new for her. Our PT says that sensory issues change and evolve as kids grow. Hopefully we can get them under control.

Talking! She imitates everything we do and has a good number of words. She's also understanding us a lot better. Her words are hard to understand though, and not very clear. We're also in the process of getting her evaluated for ST (speech therapy). Yay for awesome people willing to help! Boo for adding more therapy sessions to my schedule...

Social, Kaitlyn's a rock star. She is so friendly and loves to give random people hugs. I can't even count how many times people have told me she made their day because she smiled and laughed and giggled with them. Whenever we leave a place, she waves her arms really big and yells, "Bye! See ya!" So cute. She does occasionally cling to us, or cry when we leave, so we do know that her "stranger sensor" works, she just usually decides it doesn't matter :)

She loves these silly glasses. And our new slide! Awesome for strengthening her little muscles!

And we can't forget Kinsey. She's awesome too. She now prefers chapter books to picture books. I was at the library trying to get some suggestions and the librarian kept verifying that I wanted to pick out chapter books for my 4 year old. At one point he said, "Wouldn't she like some nice picture books?" She can also add and subtract in her head, knows all her months/days of the week, has a good number of sight words, and remembers everything. She's doing great in gymnastics and has been advanced to the next class. She can also get Kaitlyn to eat foods I have no luck with. I generally just leave them in the kitchen with food and Kinsey does the rest. Maybe I'll just let her be the OT...
