Carolina Beach

We went to the beach last Saturday with some friends. It was...a learning experience. I learned that one day at the beach is not really worth the effort when you have little kids. You need a couple of nights to justify the cost, work, and time it takes to get everything ready to go and put away when you get back. That being said, we had a great time despite all the craziness.

We were going to go to Wrightsville Beach, but we were afraid it would be too crowded so we decided to head to Carolina Beach instead. We had never heard of it so we figured most other people hadn't either and it wouldn't be too crowded. Um...it was packed. It took us forever to find a place to park, and then another forever to haul half of the Earth's possessions to the beach. Before we set up at the beach, we need to change into our swim suits so Kinsey and I got in line for the public restrooms on the boardwalk. After about 5 minutes, we got our turn in the lovely, un-air conditioned bathroom. Kinsey kept saying (LOUDLY), "Mom, it stinks in here! Gross!" "Is that poop on the floor?" (it was dirt...I hope). I decided it would be easier to just change her at the beach so we headed out. It was then that we noticed the clouds. We had checked the weather a couple of days before and it was supposed to be perfect. Yeah, not so perfect. But we headed to the beach anyways. The beaches in North Carolina are all lined by sand dunes. You can't see the ocean until you get to the top. We finally got to where we could see the ocean and we were shocked by how many people were there. Packed. Hundreds of people everywhere. We finally found a spot (which ended up being awesome) and ate lunch. Well, I tried to eat. Both girls were uninterested in food, they were over hungry, hot, tired, and of course excited about the beach. Kinsey finally ate, I gave up on Kaitlyn, and the day got better from there. Until it started raining. Fortunately, it only lasted for a few minutes and we were all wet from the ocean anyways, so it wasn't too big of a deal.

All in all, we had fun at the beach. Both girls loved it. We took Kaitlyn into the water and she giggled and giggled. Kinsey would live on the beach if she had the choice. We ended the day with a Ferris wheel ride, humidity, and pizza. We got home at midnight and we were all tired the next day. I know I just said I wouldn't, but I would totally do it again. Anyone want to come?

Our lovely weather

Happy Beach Babies

Beautiful sleeping Giovanna

Tired, wishes she was a home in a bed, Kaitlyn

We just bought a new fancy double stroller. Did I bring it with us? No, I was trying to save space. We ended up with plenty of room for it but all I had was our little single stroller. Good thing my girls are tiny!

Ferris Wheel

View of the beach from the Ferris Wheel, beautiful after the sun came out (after we left of course)

View from the top! Marcos, Metta, Giovanna, and Kaitlyn

Kinsey loved the Ferris Wheel. Her dad, not so much. Apparently he doesn't like large, rusty, metal contraptions that hoist you high in the air. Strange guy...
