Washington DC- Day 1

We left for DC on Friday morning. We didn't leave as early as we wanted to because we never do, but we left pretty early and got there in time to meet up with my brother. He is doing an internship at the Capitol and he gave us our own personal tour. I have been to DC once, when I was 15, and toured the Capitol then but I didn't really remember anything. It was really interesting and we enjoyed our tour. We had tickets to go up in the Washington Monument but we ran out of time. We found out later that while you can take children, you can't take a stroller and they have nowhere to store your stroller. So...we wouldn't have been able to go anyways. After the Capitol, we walked to the Library on Congress. We took a few pictures but got there too late to go inside (most things close at 5 or 5:30). So we hopped back on the metro and rode over to the Washington Monument to take some pictures and we planned on walking to the Lincoln Monument.

After walking across the Mall, I realized that being pregnant and touring DC (which requires a lot of walking) don't really mix. We decided to save the rest of the Monuments for the next day and headed back to our hotel and ate dinner.

The Train (Metro)

Kinsey loved the metro. She was so excited to get to go on a "train" and she kept asking when she could go on another train ride. We stayed about 6 miles out of DC and used to metro to get around. It was busy and sometimes confusing but we had fun. If you ask Kinsey what her favorite part of the trip was, she'll tell you "the train."

The Capitol

Inside the Capitol, this is what you see when you look up the dome that you can see from the outside.

Also in the Capitol, in front of a statue of Brigham Young.
